the other Chad

14th place Ragged 50K National Champs 2018- Team AMP active top mens team

I know, I promised a 50K Nationals report- But something came up- an opportunity, a correspondence, a new adventure-  But first a story; a memorium.
My cousin Chad passed away two years ago of a rare disease called Mitochondrial disease.  He was the epitome of Hope and Faith- even until the end.  Although the disease really debilitated him in his final years, he was still the same fun, goofy and loving cousin I grew to know and Love.  Patriots, his dogs, his family, Jesus- These were the passions of my cousin, Chad Baker.
As many of you know, I have been looking for an FKT to attempt and have set my sights on many- yet nothing had worked, whether because of timing, plans or the raw excitement for the challenge.   Seems a race or an FKT tend to be more appealing when there is a connection, emotional or spiritual, to the goal at hand...well here we are.
Tomorrow I will run this fun route between Watatic and Wachusett mountains on the mid State trail- Hopefully going for the fastest time- But beyond, well beyond that is the fact that its a way to honor my cousin Chad and raise some money for those battling this vicious disease- to run for those who cannot.  to honor ones faith and courage and to see if we can't help those afflicted with this in the future, please consider giving to this Go Fund me:

I will be sending all the money to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation-
